Perpetual Strategic Capital Fund

Perpetual Strategic Capital Fund is a best-ideas portfolio which focuses on active ownership to unlock value in companies and drive returns for investors.

As an active owner, Perpetual aims to create catalysts for change in ASX-listed companies to improve shareholder value. We’re one of the few big Australian managers to have embraced active ownership.

Why active ownership?

  • Activism works: It has a differentiated beta and can generate excellent long-term, risk-adjusted returns for patient investors.
  • Adding value: Investing as “active owners” with influence over the destiny of a company means the potential to deliver more value to investors over time.
  • Enhancing outcomes: Like private equity in public markets, activism aims to improve corporate performance and shareholder returns.

Why Perpetual?

Active ownership is in our DNA

The Perpetual Australian Equities team has a long history of active ownership – engaging with company boards and management teams and implementing strategies to unlock additional value.

Our size allows us to build meaningful positions in companies, which gives us a stronger voice with management teams and enables us to advocate effectively for shifts that can drive growth, profitability and, ultimately, shareholder returns.

Investing can be a long-term endeavour. However, with active oversight from a skilled investment team, one-to-two years of activism can achieve desired outcomes while two-to-four years of ownership can realise gains for investors.
