Strategies to get to the heart of the problem

Sydney - 3 July 2008

Melbourne - 28 July 2008

Brisbane - 27 August 2008

Throughout July and August 2008 the Perpetual Foundation has held a series of forums profiling the approach taken by Outcomes Australia to achieve an increase in the rate of organ donation in Australia. Outcomes Australia has applied business principles and methodologies to assess the problem, identify practical solutions and influence a range of stakeholders to bring about change. At the Sydney and Melbourne events over 100 representatives from non-profit/social economy organisations throughout Australia attended.

At this public forum we encourage you to contribute ideas and experiences on how to improve the interaction of philanthropy, the work of non-profit organisations and the policy and decision-making of governments.

Leadership and management in the social economy

Our November 2007 forum focused on the Foundation’s recently commissioned research – Views of leadership and management in the Australian social economy.

Over 1,300 survey respondents and 55 focus group participants from non-profit, for-profit and government organisations contributed to the project. In addressing leadership and management in social welfare, medical research, culture, sports, education and community development, the research has identified a series of opportunities and problems within the non-profit sector.

Attendees had the opportunity to meet and hear from head researcher, Hugh Morrow of the Social Economy Executive Education Network, who talked about the results and opened the forum for discussion.
